Kundalini Yoga – A Path to Self-Illumination. Kundalini Yoga has been called the Yoga of Awareness. This workshop takes the individual on an experience of Kundalini Yoga via participation in a ‘kriya’ - a prescribed set of exercises, asana, meditation, mantra and breath patterns designed to awaken and radiate the dormant spiritual power that lies within us. Also included in the experience is a sound-healing session via the use of a 34” poly-symphonic gong, which balances the sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous systems and induces a state of spontaneous meditation. BURNING THE BOX (emotional release & soul play) This workshop releases the ties that bind, so to speak..We will break through our calcified self-images to unveil the inner being in all its playful and prayer-ful glory, in safe company of others that are revealed to be just that – other versions of one’s Self. This is achieved via synergistic exploration of healing and expressive modalities such as Yoga, pantomime, energy-feedback, authentic movement, sound healing, and sound circles. Breathe. Flow. Vizualize. Animate. Rejoice.
Bhandas & Mudras The first part of this workshop will explore the nature and execution of the Bhandas – the 3 Yogic Locks that assist in the movement of Kundalini energy along the spinal column of the practitioner. The practice of Jalandahara, Uddiyana, and Mula Bhanda will be explained and demonstrated, as well as their application in a variety of Yogic asanas and exercises. Next we will delve into Mudras, the locks or seals that guide energy flow and reflexes to the brain and throughout the body for specific effect. We will practice mudras individually and in concert with various meditations and mantras in the Kundalini Yoga tradition
